Back to normal! Although coronavirus is still with us, there is no doubt that life is returning to normal. With so many now vaccinated, the threat to our NHS being overwhelmed seems to have receded, so perhaps we can all look forward to getting out and about this summer. This issue is certainly full of things worth getting out to see: the displays of Rhododendrons at the Botanics; the Great Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels; the Royal Highland Show at Ingliston and the many local private gardens that are opening to the public. And if you are of a golfing persuasion with a penchant for the history of the game, then a round on Musselburgh Links - as it celebrates its 350th anniversary – might be for you. As usual, we try to offer something for everyone, and with lots of social gathering back on the agenda, this issue has also returned to its normal level of society event coverage. Finally, as we go to press, Frank Ross the Rt. Hon. Lord Provost and Lord Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh, is in his final weeks of offi ce. Over the last 5 years the Lord Provost has been a great supporter of many good causes, as well as being a first class First Citizen of Edinburgh and dutiful representative of Her Majesty the Queen in Scotland’s capital. Frank Ross deserves everyone’s thanks, and I would like to extend my own warm wishes for the future, to him and his wife Hannelore, Lady Provost. I do hope you enjoy this issue of Edinburgh Life and the Lothians
