Land Mobile previews CCW 2022
So much potential
Welcome to the latest edition of Land Mobile, the leading magazine for professionals working in the business communications sector.
If there is a single word that sums up content in the current issue, it is probably ‘potential’, both regarding the development and proliferation of new technology itself, as well as how the work environment is being transformed through the use of that technology. This is probably best symbolised by our feature examining the work of the CW 5G accelerator programme, located in Cambridge (page 16).
The accelerator leverages a campus-wide standalone 5G network, not only to develop the tech, but also – crucially – to develop the business cases which will ultimately lead to its adoption at scale. Visiting in May, we spoke to CW (otherwise known as Cambridge Wireless) itself, several participants of the programme, as well as network provider Huawei, whose involvement is also a point of interest.
Staying on the subject of ‘potential’ – or perhaps more accurately, unrealised potential – turn to our smart cities feature for an examination of why some UK-based projects are still at such a relatively early stage.
Over the course of his research, author James Atkinson uncovers a variety of potential factors, including a lack of focus on outcomes as well as silo working within organisations. It is a fascinating read and can be found by turning to page 20.
Lastly, as observant readers will already have noticed, Land Mobile has undergone somewhat of a ‘spring redesign’, freshening things up going into what looks like a new (postCOVID) start for both the sector and society as a whole. We hope you like it, and we would love to hear your feedback. With that in mind, if there are any other changes that you would like to see in terms of coverage, design or anything else, please feel free to get in contact. Likewise, if you have any thoughts or concerns about the sector, we would love to hear those too. We are always happy to publish any insight which might be useful to readers, so please reach out via the contact details on page three.
Enjoy the issue.
