The piece is anchored by a large shell vase that references the late 18th century European tradition that has been called ‘vasemania’ – where images of vases were used as lavish decoration in interiors – roughly contemporaneous at the time Leak was making his rustic bottles and bricks. It is installed on Gadigal Land, Sydney, and was made there and on Yuin Country, Broughton, south coast NSW. | 5 | 5
