Festive memories, old and new… Welcome Ourfamilydecorations providedperfectinspiration! SOMETIMES, YOU HAVE TO take a breath and stop trying to plan the perfect Christmas for everyone. There is such a thing as trying too hard. We learned this to our cost recently when an expedition to find the perfect boughs of holly for our festive photo shoot ended with Martin lying in a ditch with a broken ankle. Thankfully, the break isn’t quite as bad as first feared and your intrepid Editor is now on the mend. You may well find that all the inspiration you need is already to hand – and we don’t only mean in the pages of Cross Stitcher! We have a box of lovely glass baubles and a rather wonky silver tinsel star inherited from Susan’s parents. This proved the perfect inspiration for our cover project this issue (page 20). A special frame holds individual stitched baubles to look just as they would be stored in sectioned boxes in the a ic. When we decorate with our children, there is a real magic when the precious old baubles are added to the tree. We hope we have recreated that excitement of rediscovering decorations each year and want to share it with you. Happy Christmas stitching! SUSAN & MARTIN PENNY EDITORS P.S.
