Consider it an early present. Besides, it doesn’t feel early to us: it was 2 August when mag editor Rachel Burgess sent the team an email headed: ‘CHRISTMAS FEATURE IDEAS WANTED.’ That early start reflects the effort we put into crafting this issue. Whether it’s road testing a tall ship, wild camping in a 911 or much more, it’s a celebration of all things automotive. We trust you’ll enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed making it. I hope you also won’t mind me tak ing time to highlight the unseen efforts of our production team: Sami Shah, Kris Culmer, Sarah Özgül, Stephen Hopkins and Tara Tuohy. They turn our words, pictures, half-baked ideas and badly drawn sketches into expertly crafted magazine pages, while correcting our mistakes to make us look smarter than we are. Their efforts amaze every week, but especially so when faced with two double issues. Two? That’s right: we’ll be back on 20 December with our review of 2023 and a look ahead to 2024. I’ll end by wishing you a very merry Christmas – and thanks for your continued support. We really do appreciate it.
