Editor’s Letter Editor’s Letter M y dear readers, when you open this issue of Pagan Dawn magazine, it will be almost spring and I hope that it will find you happy, energised and rested from the winter sleep. This will be my last Editor’s letter as I have taken the hard decision to leave the magazine and let space for a new person with new ideas to come. We live in a terrible world right now and I felt the desire to help where I am most needed. I have been a volunteer in different organisations for most of my adult life and it is time to go again in the “front line” because this Earth needs warriors of Light; as unfortunately, the dark has extended a strong grip around all of us. I also believe that our community needs to be reshaped as times are rapidly changing; if we do not accept that, we risk becoming obsolete. I am sure that the new Editor and my colleague as previously Deputy Editor – Hannah, knows that and shares my thoughts. She is a dedicated person, and I cannot wait to see the new magazine and her impact on what Pagan Dawn will become. I hope that we will manage to always grow and shapeshift with the winds of time, because I am absolutely convinced that our community needs a magazine like this. There are so many people that are just beginning to discover their paths and will find Pagan Dawn extremely useful. Working for the magazine has been an honour for me; I remember being 14 and opening Pagan Dawn for the first time, it was this magical piece of paper, almost like being in Harry Potter and reading The Daily Prophet. It was another world, my world, a magical item that had the power to connect me to all of you, my community, my soulmates, my family. I had never, not even in my wildest dreams imagined that one day I would be an Editor. Being here and doing this job was simply a dream come true, but panta rhei and nothing is forever. The magazine has been what it is because it is ever changing, and it is the voice of different people in different time, I am sure that the new team will do a wonderful job and will give their essence to Pagan Dawn, with new perspectives, ascending to new heights. Saying goodbye is so hard and I did not want to make this a very long one. I will miss you dearly, but if you ever feel the need to speak to me, just write to Hannah, she will make sure that we get in touch. Wishing the new team a lot of success with Pagan Dawn! With all my love, Aurora. 4

President’s Letter President’s Letter As I write this, it is just a couple of weeks after our big yearly Council meeting. This is where key officers of the committee are voted on by the members of Council, reports about the activities and achievements of the last year are presented and decisions are made about the year to come. My initial three-year term as President was at an end and it was time for Council to decide if they wanted me to continue. Thankfully, they did indeed want me to continue, and I was voted back for another year. It is an honour to be able to serve my community in this way and I thank Council for their faith in me. The Council meeting also brought the excellent news that our membership is growing consistently. We couldn’t do what we do without our members supporting our work and it is heartening to see that so many of you want to help us with our work. Thank you to each and every one of you! As you’ll all know from my letters and other articles over the last few years, since I took up this role, we have been very busy updating everything behind the scenes. From policy to district structure to support for our volunteers, we have been reviewing and updating everything in anticipation of our charity application being approved. Unfortunately, at the time of writing this, we still don’t have a definitive answer. The ongoing work is moving in the right direction and the committee team is hopeful that by the time this reaches you, we will have good news to share. Along with all that updating, we have also begun using a new term which you will begin seeing across our platforms with increasing regularity. That term is “Paganisms” rather than “Paganism”. We’re making this change to reflect the diversity of this great community. Paganisms as a term is a more accurate reflection of the many paths, traditions and beliefs followed by the people we support and indicates our commitment to be a fully inclusive organisation across the breadth of our community. That commitment is evidenced in our new Mission and Vision Statements, which give us a solid foundation from which to support our community, shape our efforts and meet our aims. I welcome your thoughts on them both so please do email me and let me know what you think. The vision is a big one, a world where there is no discrimination for people of all Paganisms is a lofty goal. Given the progress we have seen over the last 50 plus years alongside the evident growth in our community, it is a vision that is not only possible but one that I believe in wholeheartedly and will do my best to make happen. It will take time of course, but with consistent effort such as the PF has been achieving for the duration of its existence, it can only get closer with each passing day. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve in the future by building on the strong and sustainable foundation we’re working from, as we continue striving to see that vision of people of all Paganisms being free to be themselves become a firm reality. Bright Spring Blessings, Sarah Kerr MISSION: THE PAGAN FEDERATION WORKS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF, AND TO REPRESENT, FOLLOWERS OF PAGANISMS IN THEIR RIGHT TO EQUITABLE TREATMENT.
