Continuing on more celebratory news, it is the National Gallery’s 200th year anniversary, with events planned in Trafalgar Square, and we report on its architectural improvements and expansion. But for all the architecture and interior design – however fabulous – its role is to present, frame and celebrate one of the world’s greatest collection of paintings, from the 13th century to 20th century. More recently, retail design has changed with evolving consumer demands, and while some big brands have disappeared, Zebra’s MD Mark Mason discusses the retail evolution of the past 25 years. We also have a fabulous and insightful lighting supplement on how light affects and transforms our behaviour, plus Ian Macrae looks at what will have the most impact on lighting over the next five years. Good to look forward. And back. Always! Theresa Dowling, editor
