hello From the editor Welcome to our new edition of The Green Parent packed with articles with a focus on love and joy. Brought to you with the support of the hawthorn tree this issue has been so uplifting and fun to put together! I’m always saying how much I love my job, how I feel excited to get behind my desk and now more than ever. We’re in the process of launching a new website for The Green Parent, where you can get loads of juicy, inspiring respectful parenting content and get the chance to become part of our community. For the last couple of months alongside making this magazine I’ve been writing and editing articles for the new site to make sure it’s as rich a resource as possible spanning everything from pregnancy to raising teens, unschooling to natural health. My youngest daughter who’s home educated, has spent a few rainy afternoons perched next to me while I work. Her latest passion is making jewellery and while I have to stop every now and then to thread a stopper bead, she’s pretty self-sufficient in her crafting. There’s a whole load of guilt that comes with being a working home educating parent, but I bring myself back to the words of mother and entrepreneur Rachel Rodgers who writes about how empowering and important it is for our kids to witness us working on something we’re passionate about. She also writes about achieving work/ life balance and putting family first. Which is why me and my kids have had some great adventures recently. We went on the train to Paris and mooched along beautiful boulevards, thrift stores and ALL the parks! A day trip to Kew Gardens involved stroking trees and playing in their brilliant children’s area. We’ve also swum and rockpooled, jumped and climbed, walked and run in “We’ve had some great adventures recently. We caught the train to Paris and mooched along boulevards, thrift shops and all the parks!” lots of lovely little nooks of Sussex. And when we’re tired out we head home for some more website work/ bracelet making! I’ll be writing a weekly round-up of all the fun stuff we’ve learned, discovered and read over in our sparkly new online nest. I’d love for you to check out thegreenparent.co.uk and tell me what you think. You can write to me at letters@thegreenparent.co.uk. Looking forward to hearing from you.
