We asked what do you love most about summer
SOPHIE JENNA
Artist and mother, Sophie lives with her family in Cornwall. “I've actually been reading
Green Parent since my teenage years, as I am the eldest of six home educated children - my mum had the magazine at home, so naturally I was reading it and forming ideas for my own future family!
For me summer is all about vitamin D and bare feet on the ground in nature (for little one too)! We have long, damp, grey winters here but the summers are a dream as we have world famous beaches on our doorstep!” See Sophie’s work on page 20.
ROSHANI HILL
Health coach, functional medicine practitioner and mother, Roshani lives in London with her husband and their two daughters. Founder of Vital Women’s Wellness, she is on a mission to help women put their own selfcare first. “What I love about the summer is the combination of sunshine and grounding
- putting my toes into the grass, sand and being outdoors. Something so simple brings me so much joy and my kids love doing it with me!” Read more about Roshani’s story and her top tips for boosting energy, even when you’re feeling depleted on page 55.
SALLY HALL Founder of education project, Bamble, in Norfolk, Sally is mother to a free-range toddler and volunteer at a permaculture inspired farming co-op. She believes in the principles of self-directed learning, which led her to set up the project with her partner. “Summer for me is about harvesting, celebrating, sand between my toes, smoky clothes after late-night chats around the campfire, blackberry stains on my favourite dress and gluts of fruit and veg.” Read Sally’s story of setting up an unschooling setting and how she wants children to have the freedom to define who they want to be on page 42.
ZENOVIA STEPHENS Wife, mother, and Founder of Black Kids Adventures, a non-profit organization, Zenovia and her husband, George are raising their three sons to be bold and feel empowered to take on whatever life throws their way. “My husband and I have always loved a good adventure and we want to ensure Black families feel seen and represented in adventure travel. This summer, my advice is don’t wait for the fancy or expensive trips to do something new or different. Seek it out right where you are, and learn to appreciate what you have.” Read more of Zenovia’s story on page 77.
