132 SUMMER 2024 04 04  A Cotswolds Retreat by Mikel Welch. Rug by Stark Carpet, tapestry by Bokara 05  Metamorphosis: a Journey of Transformation by Swati Goorha Design. Rug by Swati Goorha x RuggleUp of Woolf’s essay—the lack of women’s voices—a thought which leads to On A Clear Day, a bedroom designed by Patrick Mele who dedicated it to all the inspiring women in his life. His wall-to-wall floral carpet Oz in Midnight was designed by Mele in collaboration with artist Hayley Sarno and made by Aronson’s Floor Covering for the Patrick Mele Collection. Female themes carried through to Fumoir Féminin by Workshop/APD who imagined a place for ‘a muse lounging with her girlfriends’. A custom hand-tufted high-low silk and wool rug underscored the room’s refined elegance and reflected colours on the ceiling papered with Ambia wallpaper by Fromental. Elsewhere, Study of Art and Beauty by Jeremiah Brent featured another custom rug with a motif representing Egyptian goddess Hathor. Stark provided a Persian-style rug in consciously faded hues for A Cotswolds Retreat by Mikel Welch, and Philip Thomas, Inc. chose a crosshatch wool flatweave rug from Stark for The Andes Club. Huma Sulaiman Design’s Dream Machine featured The Rug Company’s Cove rug, hand-knotted in wool and bamboo silk. Its cool blue shades set a tranquil tone for the space. The Show House’s staircase was treated by two designers. Lucinda Loya Interiors’ Enchanted Roots featured her highcontrast monochrome Ripped rug from her forthcoming collection with The Rug Company, running up several flights to the top of the house, while lower levels of the stairs featured Swati Goorha Designs’ Metamorphosis: a Journey of Transformation. Goorha designed a colourful rug for her space tufted in wool by RuggleUp, The eye-catching swirling pattern owes a design debt to Trish Andersen who in 2018 pioneered runner rugs with cascading pooled and dripping colours with her hand-tufted Rainbow runner rug. www.kipsbaydecoratorshowhouse.org
