150 Marketplace: Reviews SUMMER 2024 01 02 Design fairs HIGH POINT MARKET 13–17 April 2024 High Point, NC, USA www.andmorehighpointmarket.com The spring 2024 High Point Market seemed less heavily attended than previous editions overall, indicating the constantly shifting behaviour of buyers and the resulting changes to patterns in traffic at shows. That said, rug brands with unique products, a confident signature style, an attractive showroom, engaging events or a combination of these still pulled in significant numbers of visitors attracted to individuality and flair. Art Resources’ Max Moussavi confirmed this, saying HPM ‘was good considering the economic situation. We had more visitors and buyers than last October. Most popular were our modern and abstract rugs... we did sell some traditional too.’ French Accents’ Danny Shafiian said: ‘Considering the state of the economy today, this recent show is one of our more successful shows of the past few years. It was well attended, and we are continually grateful to attract a broad range of buyers who find interest in our rugs, possibly due to the depth of our products

We are excited and a rmed by this response to continue to expand our Mid-Century Modern collection.’ With inventive displays, Jaipur Living’s new showroom was a joy to explore; and its Fine Fibers programme garnered much attention, with columns adorned with patterns created from alpaca, cashmere, silk, nettle and wool dotted around the space. in its new showroom, Obeetee chose to highlight its hand-tufted and hand-knotted collections, such as Mahogany in wool, cotton and jute. Loloi’s newly expanded space became the largest rug showroom at Market and many of its design partners were on site to introduce their latest collaborations. Among them was its newest celebrity par tner, Brigette Romanek, 05 04 06 01 French Accents showroom 02 Thom Filicia Home Collection rugs for Feizy 03 Exquisite Rugs showroom 04 Crepito rug by Parker Heath for the Modern Primitive collection, Creative Accents 05 Jaipur Living showroom 06 Asia Minor showroom whose debut rugs for Loloi fall into four distinct collections—Knox, Dana, Frida and Orly—spanning hand-knotted, hand-loomed and handwoven constructions. Feizy’s display of hand-knotted rugs by Thom Filicia caught our eye and he participated in ‘The Celebrity Factor: How to Get It, How to Show It, How to Sell It’—one of the talks within Feizy’s full schedule of designerfocused events. Rug & Kilim hosted a wellattended discussion ‘The Art of Finding & Maintaining Great Partners’ with interior designers Robin Gannon and Alexa Hampton who launched her book Design, Style and Influence at the show. Momeni hosted events alongside licensing partners from Pure Salt and Novogratz, with a main focus on a ordable, mid-price pieces. Its new Adobe collection in earthy tones mixed two weaving constructions—wool kilim and jute with leather stitching—producing an unusual take on an Anatolian aesthetic. HRI’s high-end Retro collection featured layered Persianate designs and tassled fringes. Plus S&H Rugs was back after some time away and its green crocodile skin rug from the Safari collection made a big impact. The Modern Primitive collection, Creative Accents’ collaboration with artist Parker Heath, was shown in the Thayer Coggin showroom.
