Eco cred Sustainability is key to any business expecting to survive in today’s environmental and business climates. Here are four leading rug brands ahead of the curve
Bolon At its inception in 1949, Bolon’s aim was to produce woven rugs from waste material. Today, all of its products use 68% waste material containing bio-sourced PVC, recycled PVC and recycled chalk. Its factory in Ulricehamn, Sweden, has a closed cooling system with no additives and no water consumption; energy generated by solar panels on the roof covers 25% of its annual electricity demand. www.bolon.com
Floor Story The B of B Corp stands for Benefit for all, symbolising businesses working for everyone including stakeholders, workers communities, customers and the planet. Following its inaugural Impact Report 22/23, Floor Story was awarded B Corp status in February 2024. Creative Matters The Canadian company’s 2023 Sustainability Report champions the regenerative nature of wool as well as its ‘sheer beauty and depth of colour, softness underfoot, sound absorption, hypoallergenic, flame resistant, water repellent, stain resistant’ qualities.
