The eight rugs in the collection are defined by contrasts, uniting the elements of origami and collage painting which constitute the artist’s process to create an overall impression of both sophistication and playfulness. Kuroo is renowned for creating complex textural landscapes through his art, and this collection is no expection. The sometimes intricate designs in the series are perfectly counterbalanced with a more muted colour palette and ‘subtle tones that blend together harmoniously’. Poetically named ‘Odes to’ abstract concepts like ‘time’ or ‘infinity’, each rug is made from wool, linen or silk and is meticulously hand-knotted using Tibetan knotting techniques.
