IF you’ve been listening to the new and exciting LRM Podcast, you’ll know that it ’s been a busy old time for us here at Land Rover Monthly. Would we have it any other way? Of course not. But, now that the dust has settled slightly, it ’s good to look back over the last few weeks and months and try to recount some of the highs of show season. One of the highlights, for me, was meeting two people I have spoken to quite a few times on social media and via email, but hadn’t actually met in person until the Billing Off Road Show. It was a big, but pleasant surprise to bump into Adam Breakspear (whose amazing photos have graced the Your Pictures pages on a few occasions) and Red Pagin from Land Rovers Falmouth (@landroversfalmouth) in the beer tent at Billing. We had a good old chat and plenty of laughs, and I hope to get down to the south-west to join them for an adventure or two in the near future.
It ’s chance meetings like these that make Land Rover events even better. You may interact with the same people a few times on Facebook or Instagram on certain posts or in Land Rover groups, but never meet them face-to-face – well, the more events and meet-ups you go to, the more likely it is you can shake their hand and buy them a beer.
I don’t know about you, but it feels like this year is flying by. And while the summer solstice may have been and gone, that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything to look forward to. October sees LRM host not one, not two, but three Land Rover, 4x4 and Vintage Spares Days, at Newbury, Ripon and Malvern. So if you’ve got parts to buy or sell and people to meet, get them in your diary. Check out landrovermonthly.co.uk to get your tickets, and we look forward to seeing you there.
