IMAGES /MOTORSPORT BLOXHAM J Newey joined the Goodwood fun in his Ford GT40 before the Aston announcement More great Goodwood racing as Newey makes his move British Touring Car drivers sometimes get a bad reputation for too much aggression and panel bashing. But, actually, the top names have largely been clean racers for quite a few years now – and that point was underlined at the Goodwood Revival last weekend. As usual, there were many fine performances and contests, but the late battle between Tom Ingram in Mike Whitaker’s TVR and Jake Hill in the AC Cobra started by Olly Bryant was sensational. As Marcus Pye suggests in our coverage, which starts on page 16, it was probably one of the greatest races at Goodwood since the first Revival in 1998 and certainly one of the best (and cleanest) wheel-to-wheel fights so far in 2024. Two class drivers. Things were rather more fraught in Greece as the World Rally Championship protagonists took on an incredibly tough Acropolis. Thierry Neuville is now 34 points ahead with three rounds to go and will surely never have a better chance to finally become world champion. Tom Howard reports on p26. Formula E is now 10 years old and Stefan Mackley celebrates by picking out the most memorable races and speaking to all the champions (p36), while Phil Branagan talks to Supercars star James Courtney as his successful career comes to an end (p48). Tony Watson also looks back on the brief career of Carlos Menditeguy (p52). The big Formula 1 news is design genius Adrian Newey’s move to Aston Martin (p4). Can the combination of Newey, Honda and Fernando Alonso deliver what Lawrence Stroll wants for 2026?
