A brand-new D1999 is seen shunting the coaches of a King’s Cross train at Bradford Exchange on July 2nd, 1966. The loco had been taken into stock on June 25th, 1966, and was allocated to York depot. The old Bradford Exchange station was replaced by a smaller modern station and is seen on March 6th, 1977, the opening day of the new station. HST 253021 is on display and 47409 is ready to depart with a train to King’s Cross. Over to the right is 47410 with another express.

On June 9th, 1967, D396 passes Bowling Junction with a special train to Blackpool for staff of the Gratten’s mail order firm, which had warehouses in Bradford. The line diverging to the right was the route to Laisterdyke. It was used in steam days by LYR route Leeds to Manchester expresses, which avoided Bradford and combined at Low Moor with Bradford portions. With the introduction of DMUs, trains from Leeds to Manchester ran into Bradford, where they reversed. April 26th, 1977, 03371 was station pilot at Bradford Interchange and was stabled with an interesting selection of parcels rolling stock.
