INTRODUCTION
Hello and welcome to the January/February 2025 issue of Ceramic Review. As you f lick through this latest issue we hope you enjoy the refresh to the running order, which will hopefully make it easier for you to access all your favourite features. You will now f ind our in-depth profiles of makers at the beginning of the magazine, a technical section in the middle that includes Potter’s secrets, the Masterclass and Glaze recipe, and a What’s on section at the back covering the latest exhibitions and reviews – our Contents on page 4 will help point you in the right direction. We would love to hear what you think of the new format.
This issue also marks the end of an era as we say goodbye to not just one but two key members of staff at Ceramic Review and the Craft Potters Association (CPA).
I am sure that our advertising manager Laurence Stein (pictured below right) is familiar to many of you, as he has no doubt sold you an advert or two over the last eight years. His enthusiasm and tenacity raised the bar of advertising in the magazine and his personable approach resulted in building loyal relationships with his clients that I am sure will continue long into the future. A big thank you to Laurence for all his hard work and commitment to the magazine, we will miss him and wish him well in his retirement.
We also say goodbye to Toby Brundin (below lef t), director of the CPA. Toby led the organisation through the challenging times of Covid, helped launch the Contemporary Ceramics gallery online shop and introduced a range of new systems that have streamlined the running of the organisation. His work on Ceramic Art London led to an increase in visitor numbers and his focus on marketing and audience building expanded the CPA’s membership levels. We wish him well in his future endeavours.
That just leaves me, on behalf of the Ceramic Review team, to wish all our readers a wonderful festive season and hope you, your family and friends have a happy and healthy 2025.
