On March 3rd Sir Henry celebrated his 75th birthday, and of this long period he has spent no fewer than 56 years as an orchestral conductor. Gen er'ations of British music lovers received their fir st experienc' of fine orchestral playing at the Promenade Concerts. T hese started in 1894 at Queen's Hall. and it is hoped th a t Sir H enry will retain hi s unbroken record by directing th e 50th consecuti" e season this year at the Royal AIbert Hall.
