The unique story behind one of Britain’s exceptional dressage riders.

CARL HESTER The Autobiography

The lively memoirs of dressage rider and Olympic Gold medallist, Carl Hester. Carl Hester is one of the world’s finest dressage champions, awarded an MBE for his sport and winning team gold in the London 2012 Olympics. Born and raised on the tiny Channel Island of Sark, where there are no cars, and horses are used for travel, Carl’s equine experience began at a young age. At nineteen, he moved to the UK mainland to work at The Fortune Centre of Riding Therapy, and it was on the centre’s skewbald mare, Jolly Dolly, that he won the 1985 Young Dressage Championship. In the 1990s he went to the World Championships, the European Championships and the Barcelona Olympics, becoming the youngest-ever British rider to compete in the Games. In 2011, Carl rode Uthopia as part of the team that won the gold medal at the European Dressage Championship in Rotterdam, and then went on to gain Olympic success in 2012. This sharp and witty memoir is Carl’s riding career in his own words, altogether a great sportsman with an interesting family story. Carl Hester was born on Sark in the Channel Islands in 1967. He is one of Britain's greatest dressage riders, and successfully competed in the London Olympics in 2012. He was appointed MBE in 2013.
