LLITTLE WAY EBOLA APPEAL Ebola survivors urgently nneed our help
“Our Lord does not look so much at the greatness of our ac)ons, but at the love at which we do them.”
- St Thérèse
From Liberia, Fr Eric Aka SMA, of St John Vianney Catholic Church, Foya, writes to THE LITTLE WAY ASSOCIATION urgently appealing for help for the survivors of the Ebola outbreak: “We have a serious emergency situa)on in Liberia with food and water shortages in villages placed under quaran)ne. Many people starve because of restric)on in movement of people, goods and services. In Foya, where our Mission is based, the Ebola virus has taken 800 lives and has le behind many orphans, widows and widowers. Now the ques)on is who cares for these Ebola survivors when their breadwinners and parents are dead? “Because of this, St John Vianney Catholic Church plans to come to the help of 100 orphans, 20 widows and 10 widowers, by providing food items that can sustain them for up to ten months un)l a permanent solu)on is found for their plight.
£8,500 will provide 130 Ebola survivors with rice, oil and grains for up to 10 months. One 5kg bag of rice costs £16; 20 litres of oil costs £13; and one bag of grains/beans costs £2. We would be most grateful if The Li*le Way Associa)on could be of support to us.”
