Zakaria Tamer: Writing a story is like the work of chefs, same ingredients, different results
With a noticeable calmness and a few words, the great Syrian short story writer Zakaria Tamer draws the reader towards vast worlds, and carries him/her from the mode of “entertainment and companionship” to a state of meditation and contemplation of the Arab state of affairs, culminating in a criticism of all of its negative aspects. The story that Zakaria writes is sharp and cynical, provocative and instigative, but its primary driving force is love and noble sentiment.
