About Us Magma is distinct from other poetry magazines because each issue has a different editor. The editorship circulates among the group that runs the magazine, with an occasional guest editor.
Each editor brings his or her particular interests to bear, resulting in poems and emphases that no one else in the group could have predicted.
The group is united by its commitment to the best in contemporary poetry, whether from new or little-known poets or the more established. We look for poems which give a direct sense of what it is to live today—honest about feelings, alert about the world, sometimes funny, always well crafted.
Magma includes reviews of current publications and thought-
provoking prose. The views expressed are those of the individual authors. Magma seeks to be a forum for debate, not to present a single Magma view.
We publish three times a year in spring, summer and winter, with a selection of poems and articles on our website.
Magma 61 is edited by Jon Sayers and Nick Sunderland. Jon is Chair of Magma and Vice Chair of The Poetry Society. He has published poems and translations in a number of journals and written radio drama for BBC Radio 4.
Nick is Vice Chair of Magma. He runs a branding company working mostly with the arts and cultural sector.
The launch reading for Magma 61 is at 7pm on Friday 15th May at the London Review Bookshop, 14 Bury Place, London WC1A 2JL with guest readers Simon Barraclough and Christine Webb. Admission is free.
Magma 62 (Summer 2015) is edited by Chris Kerr and Kayo Chingonyi. The theme is violence. Contributions were received from 1 October to 31 January 2015.
Magma 63 (Winter 2015) is edited by Susannah Hart and Lisa Kelly. The theme is conversation. Contributions are welcome from 1 February 2015 to 31 May 2015 — our website has more information.
Magma 64 (Spring 2016) is edited by Dominic Bury and Jon Stone. The theme is risk. Contributions are welcome from 1 June to 30 September 2015. Please see our website from 1 June for more information.

Contributing to Magma You are welcome to send us up to six unpublished poems in a single email or, if you live in the UK, by post. We regret we are unable to accept more than one email or postal submission per issue. All contributions by email are acknowledged on receipt. Postal submissions are not acknowledged until a decision is made.
Deadlines are the end of January, end of May and end of September. Poems are considered for one issue only.
Email poems should be in the body of the email, unless they are layout-sensitive when all the poems should be included in a single attached file.
