reminiscences of Joseph Conrad was published in 1924; the second Tietjens novel, No More Parades, in 1925; the third, A Man Could Stand Up, in 1926; and the fourth, The Last Post, in 1928. His critical study, The English Novel, appeared in 1929. Having separated from Stella Bowen and had an affair with Jean Rhys, whose work he published in the Transatlantic Review, Ford met Janice Biala in 1930, and lived with her until his death in 1939. He continued to publish novels regularly, as well as other works, notably an extended Collected Poems in 1936.
