Thomas Voigt was born in 1960 in Hagen, Germany. He studied German, Protestant Theology and Sociology in nearby bochum. A former editor of the classical music magazines Opernwelt (Opera World) and Fono Forum, since 2004 he has worked as a freelance journalist, lecturer and presenter. His previous books include biographies of the German opera singers Martha Mödl and Inge borkh.
