Post-Pythagorean economics
Indeed, mainstream economic theory can be viewed as the ultimate example of the mechanistic, reductionist approach to the world that goes back to the time of Pythagoras. Economists have done much to help understand and defend competitive markets, individual rights, and economic growth.
