‘It’s like Tom and Jerry written by a Cockney Roddy Doyle on Prozac. But funnier’ – Dylan Jones, GQ Online on Going off Alarming

DANNY BAKER Going on the Turn

The laugh-out-loud third volume of Danny baker’s memoirs, following the bestselling Going to Sea in a Sieve and Going Off Alarming.

Danny Baker is a national treasure with a well-documented and colourful life. For over a quarter of a century he has amused and entertained audiences on both radio and television. Beginning his career at the age of fifteen in a small record shop in the London’s West End, Danny went on to become an acclaimed music journalist, and started his radio career on BBC GLR in 1989.

GQ Online described Going Off Alarming, the second volume of his memoirs, as ‘quite simply the funniest book you’ll read all year’, while the Daily Telegraph remarked that ‘[Baker] writes like he speaks, with hyperactive garrulity and a rhetorical flourish . . . there is something about Baker in full flow that is affirming’. With a unique take on life and a lot to say, Danny’s latest book, Going on the Turn, is full of his trademark warmth, wit and insight.

• The first volume of Danny’s memoirs, Going to Sea in a Sieve, was the basis of the eight-part bbC Two series Cradle to Grave. • a second series, also starring Peter Kay as Danny’s dad, ‘spud’, will be broadcast in 2018.

Danny baker is a comedy writer, journalist, radio DJ and screenwriter. He has recently completed his first ever national stand-up tour, Cradle to the Stage. He won the Gold Award in the Speech Radio Personality of the Year awards in 2011, 2012 and 2014, and the Gold Award for the Entertainment Show of the Year in 2013.
