Bishopsland Educational Trust is celebrating 25 years of supporting talented silversmiths and jewellers throughout their careers. The charity, which is based in South Oxfordshire, was founded by Penelope and Oliver Makower in 1993. Bishopsland offers the only residential post-graduate course that enables emerging silversmiths and jewellers to turn their talent into a career. Of the 185 young people who have trained at Bishopsland, about 70 per cent are still working in the craft. Bishopsland offers intensive one-to-one tuition and specialist master classes with renowned British silversmiths and jewellers. For Collect 2018, 25 makers who all have strong links with Bishopsland will be exhibiting, including Malcolm Appleby, Rod Kelly, Jane Short, Miriam Hanid and Jacqueline Mina, as well as newer talent such as Jessica Jue, Hamish Dobbie and Dominic Simon.
