STONEHENGE SPECIAL
IT T S
PM
This special feature is designed to inform debate about the proposed road tunnel at Stonehenge. Written by Mike Pitts, editor of British Archaeology, it reflects his personal views, but it is not about the tunnel: it describes the new fieldwork and discoveries happening now in and around the world heritage site, much of which has not yet been published.
The feature will be freely available here at British Archaeology’s Exact Editions site, until the current public consultation held by Highways England ends on April 6 2018.
You can find details of the road scheme’s history on the Council for British Archaeology’s website, with links to documents including the most recent cba statement on Stonehenge:

Highways England is now inviting comments on the road scheme. Full details with links to substantial documentation are available on the a303 Stonehenge public consultation 2018 page:

British Archaeology is a bimonthly magazine for members of the Council for British Archaeology, that is also available in newsagents, and by subscription in print and digital.
Digital subscribers and cba members will find many other Stonehenge features on this site, featuring both archaeology and the roads debate.
The next edition of British Archaeology is out on April 6, with its usual selection of outstanding features, reviews, news and more.
