1. Well-crafted furniture is a wise investment, and this is a piece that was built to last. The design of Bevan & Hely-Hutchinson’s Lascaux chest of drawers was inspired by the golden age of ocean liners. Featuring details such as a linear grooved timber frontage and circular handles, it comes in three widths and is available in a variety of finishes. The top and plinth are made from solid fumed and limed oak. 790mm tall. From £2,185. 01584 856 699 |

2. It’s a joy to purchase a piece of furniture from someone for whom its creation was a labour of love. The Farriage cabinet is a signature design of Ireland-based furniture maker John Lee. The sweeping form is emphasised by decorative grooves in the white oak body, and small storage needs are accommodated by 20 leather-lined French lime drawers, all with hand-cut dovetail joints. 2150x900x700mm. Priced on request. +353 1505 4660 |

3. Set the scene for dining with Craven Dunnill’s Explorer large format floor tiles, from the Renaissance Collection. They’re shown here in the Nero Lappato colourway, but if you prefer a lighter and less moody atmosphere, opt for the beige or white versions. 500x250mm linear mosaic options are also available. 500mm2 ceramic tiles, around £67/m2. 01746 761 611 |

4. Despite their web-like design, these seats are surpisingly comfortable! Set to become a firm design favourite, the Forest Armchair from the Italian studio of Robby and Francesca Cantarutti takes its principal inspiration from nature, echoing the shape of a bare tree in winter. Made from solid aluminium, they’re available coated in a wide range of colours including white, black, metallic grey, silver, red, lilac or acid green. £400 each. 020 7349 7209 |

5. You may struggle to find a tablecloth that can do justice to the beauty of this bespoke piece, created by Italian furniture maker Andrea Felice, also known as AF Designs. With their stainless steel inserts, the voluptuously carved legs are the highlights of the Magus table. The table can be produced in a choice of sizes and woods, which can be solid or combined with veneer. Priced on request. 07931 871 928 |

6. Freshen up your dining space with a burst of colour from Novatec’s aluminium Venetian blinds in Forest Green. Providing privacy while allowing light to shine through, even on the chilliest of winter days, they’ll remind you that spring isn’t too long away! A wide variety of colour choices are available, and slats can have widths of 15 or 25mm. From £53 for a 60x80cm blind. 01843 608 780 |
