The son of the former amateur champion jockey Ted Walsh, he came to prominence winning the English Grand National at his first attempt, on a horse trained by his father. Since then, he’s been the only jockey to win all four home Grand Nationals. Here, Walsh opens up on life in the Walsh dynasty, and life under Paul Nicholls. Ruby Walsh was born in Ireland in 1979. His most recent racing triumph was to ride a record-breaking seven winners at the 2009 Cheltenham Festival.
