SF classics by the world’s most influential writers

Gollancz began relaunching its SF Masterworks series in March 2010. The programme continues throughout the year with all titles having new cover designs and introductions. The autumn reissues include some of the genre’s greatest authors such as H.G. Wells and Brian Aldiss.

Samuel R. Delany Dhalgren

A counter-culture masterpiece A young man arrives in the anarchic city of Bellona, in a near future USA. This world has two moons, but could otherwise be our own. The man, known only as ‘the Kid’, begins to write a novel called Dhalgren that begins where it ends. Dhalgren is acclaimed as Delany’s most ambitious work, and has been described as a masterpiece. This new edition includes an introduction by Gwyneth Jones. Samuel R. Delany is one of SF’s most influential and widely discussed authors, winning many major awards including the Nebula Award. He lives in Philadelphia, USA.
