ABOVE: Minatu Lanabas Suidat, 25, journalist, pictured in Tifariti, within Polisario-controlled Western Sahara (the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic). In 1991, a ceasefire between Morocco and the Polisario was negotiated by the UN. There have been numerous attempts since to negotiate an agreement between the two sides, but none have been successful. Now, the Sahrawi are becoming restless for a resolution. ‘I think the world has betrayed the Polisario. The Polisario wanted peace and had faith in the process, and they gave a lot for the chance to create peace, but I think the world didn’t appreciate that, especially the UN and Morocco. The people are ready to sacrifice themselves for independence,’says Suidat; BELOW: Fatimetou Mohamed Budda, 54, pictured in the 27th of February ‘satellite’ refugee camp, Algeria. ‘I was born in Western Sahara in 1955. It was good there,’ she says. ‘We went everywhere because we were Bedouin’
