Keith Haring Tate Liverpool Haring left behind a vibrant visual language and a legacy of activism that became more and more explicit in the works leading up to his death, aged 31, in 1990. His first major UK exhibition displays more than 85 works including large paintings, drawings and sculptures, reflecting his unique interpretation of late 1980s New York street culture. tate.org.uk/visit/tate-liverpool
24 June Francine Houben: Talk Designing for Culture V&A Museum, London Francine Houben, founder of design firm Mecanoo, will give a talk about the practice’s iconic cultural projects from around the world. Since 1984 the Dutch firm has earned a global reputation for civic projects including the New York Public Library and the epic and undulating National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts in Taiway. vam.ac.uk

Nature by Design Cooper Hewitt, New York Three new ‘stories’ arrive at Cooper Hewitt’s Nature Triennial: Natural Plastics, Under the Sea, and Botanical Lessons. Cindy Sherman National Portrait Gallery, London This major retrospective features works from Sherman’s groundbreaking Untitled Film Stills, 1977-80, up to the present day.
