At the heart of Manchester’s creative Northern Quarter, a former Victorian fishmarket is now the home of Manchester Craft and Design Centre. In the centre’s 19 independent studios you can expect to meet over 30 talented designer-makers and see them at work creating unique, handmade wares including textiles, jewellery, ceramics, prints, cards and gifts, homeware and more. The centre also hosts an innovative programme of contemporary craft exhibitions, workshops and events. And if all that leaves you in need of refreshment, Oak Street Café Bar is on hand to serve up delicious homemade dishes and cakes, the finest tea and coffee and a selection of great beers and wine. The centre boasts Elbow’s Guy Garvey as patron, who says: ‘If you like to give personal gifts then there is nowhere better in the North West.’
