Throughout the 20th century Ditchling attracted artists and craftworkers of national repute, including Eric Gill, Hilary Pepler and Ethel Mairet. The museum provides the opportunity to see the works in the place where they were made. In 2019 the museum celebrates the role of lesser-known craftswomen with Women’s Work, until 13 October, accompanied by a fantastic events programme. The visitor facilities include a delightful café and shop in the restored 18th-century cart lodge, which looks onto the village green. The shop has a wide range of items influenced by the museum’s collection and features local artists and craftspeople.
