The Prayer-Book now presented to the Catholic Public, with the approbation o f his Grace the Lord Archbishop of Dublin, has been compiled with the greatest care by theltedemptorist Fathers. I t contains all thenecessary and general Devotions— namely, Morning and N igh t Prayers, Prayers for Mass, Vespers and Benediction, and a full Preparation for Confession and Communion. I t contains also ail the particular devotions in most common use among Catholics, and other very useful and arimating devotions, such as the Visits to the Most Blessed Sacrament o f the Altar, and to the Blessed V irgin Mary. Besides these, i t contains wholesome reflections for daily or frequent meditations, which will prove a powerful means to maintain all in the fear of mortal sin, the desire o f a holy life, and the practice o f every virtue. To such as have attended the missions of the Fathers of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, it is invaluable, as it enables them to revive at any time the fee'ings excited by the sermons, and thus aid them to persevere in their good resolutions. Catholics who have not had the happiness o f attending a Mission' will find in this manual simp'e practical, and stirring instructions, as -welt as a collection of devotions, that make it an indispensable manual in every family. Drawn up by such practical directors, th work must needs he suited to the time and country ; and as it is drawn mainly from the writings of St. Alphonsus Liguori, i t is useless to say that it is replete with unction and tender piety.
