To help you with your festive shopping, Crafts recommends 11 of the best fairs around the country for original gift ideas

British Crafts: Blackthorpe Barn For five consecutive weekends from 9 November, the medieval Blackthorpe Barn will bring together a shifting selection of British makers working in a variety of media amid the woodland surroundings of Rougham Estate near Bury St Edmunds. Meet craftspeople working with wood, textiles, ceramics, metal, leather, jewellery, basketry, and take part in workshops.

Bovey Tracey (16 November – 5 January 2020). Housed in a Grade II-listed 19thcentury mill, the members’ organisation supports makers in the south-west.

Waddesdon House The Christmas Fair at Waddesdon (16 November – 22 December, Wednesday to Sunday) is housed in a series of 80 wooden chalets, against the backdrop of the 17th-century manor house. Exhibitors hail from across the country, and include Vikki Lafford Garside, who will show off her textile ornaments, and Hazel Williams, with her festive laser-cut designs in paper and wood.
