CityU is a young, fast-growing, research university. The Department of Physics was founded in 2017, building on the outstanding tradition of the former Department of Physics and Materials Science. POSITIONS RECENTLY RECRUITED FOR Theoretical and computational physics; spectroscopy and imaging; lowdimensional systems; soft matter and biophysics; atomic, molecular and optical physics
DESIRED DEGREE DISCIPLINES/CLASS A PhD in physics or a related field. Experimental physicists are particularly welcome to apply set up research groups. International collaboration is strongly encouraged, with funding support available at all levels: national, university, college and department. The Greater Bay Area initiative, which aims to transform the Pearl River region encompassing Hong Kong, Macau and nearby cities in Guangdong, to an international centre of innovation, offers outstanding opportunities for new researchers to excel.
What we are looking for We are looking for candidates with a strong research record and promising teaching ability, with the goal to establish a worldclass research programme. Applications are sought in the broad research themes outlined below. Experimental physicists are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants of all experience levels are welcome. An initial appointment will normally be made on a fixed-term contract; the appointee can apply for substantiation or tenure during the second contract.
