The Department of Physics was founded in 2017, building on the outstanding tradition of the former Department of Physics and Materials Science. The Greater Bay Area initiative, which aims to transform the Pearl River region encompassing Hong Kong, Macau and nearby cities in Guangdong, to an international centre of innovation, offers outstanding opportunities for new researchers to excel. What we are looking for We are looking for candidates with a strong research record and promising teaching ability, with the goal to establish a worldclass research programme. An initial appointment will normally be made on a fixed-term contract; the appointee can apply for substantiation or tenure during the second contract.
