Four thousand textile fragments that span the globe and date from antiquity to the present were assembled with great passion over a lifetime of collecting by Lloyd Cotsen.

Cornerstones of this extraordinary study collection are fragments from Japan, China, India, pre-Columbian

South America, and 16th- to 17th-century Europe, as well as Cotsen’s contemporary “Box Project.” They are now housed in a new study center dedicated to textile research at the George Washington

University Museum and The Textile Museum in Washington, DC.
