the threadbare coat
Thomas A Clark lives in a small fishing village on the east coast of Scotland. Three earlier books of poetry, published by Carcanet, explore the landscape and culture of the highlands and islands, while numerous small books, cards and editions from his own Moschatel Press investigate ways that the presentation of poetry can inform sense and nuance. Away from the printed page, Thomas A Clark’s spare textual interventions attempt to bring imaginative space to public or domestic situations. During the summer months, with the artist Laurie Clark, he runs Cairn Gallery, a space for minimal and conceptual art. Matthew Welton is the co-editor, with John Lucas, of the Selected Poems of Nicholas Moore (Shoestring Press, 2014), and between 2001– 2003 was an editor of Stand magazine. He has published four books of his own poems with Carcanet, and his pamphlet Squid Squad (2016) was published by Thomas A Clark’s Moschatel Press. Matthew Welton lives in Nottingham and teaches at the University of Nottingham.
