THE AUTHOR Working for Country Life and The Times Marcus Binney has followed the design and construction of some of the major bridges of our age, talking to the leading architects and engineers involved, including Santiago Calatrava, Norman Foster, Nicholas Grimshaw and Alan Spielmann as well as engineering practices such as Ove Arup.
As founder and President of SAVE Britain’s Heritage and Chairman of Save Europe’s Heritage he has taken a keen interest in the preservation and restoration of historic bridges. Among his publications are Railway Architecture: The way ahead (1995), Airport Builders (1999), Save Britain’s Heritage: 30 years of campaigning (2005), In Search of the Perfect House (2007) and Big Saves: Heroic Transformations of Great Landmarks (2016).
