By John Lyons FORMER England pair Andy Car- roll and Danny Drinkwater rolled back the years with their fi rst goals for Reading to earn victo- ry at Swansea – and earned the praise of boss Veljko Paunovic. Carroll, 32, who joined Reading just two weeks ago after a career that has attracted £50m of transfer fees, struck after Tom Dele-Bashiru had cancelled out Jamie Paterson’s quick-fire Swansea opener. Ryan Manning equalised at the start of the second half, but Drinkwater notched the winner straightaway. It was his first goal since December 2017 and gave Reading a welcome win following their recent six-point deduction for breaking financial regulations. Paunovic said: “Andy and Dan- ny are very important with their experience, presence, composure and qualities. We needed a performance from them like this.” INSIDE: EFL CHAIRMEN PRAISE FAN-REVIEW FINDINGS BUY FROM YOUR LOCAL NEWSAGENT OR SUPERMARKET OR SUBSCRIBE ONLINE AT: WWW.THELEAGUEPAPER.COM POSTAL SUBSCRIPTION Fill out the form and send your cheque for either £20, £40 or £80 made out to The Football Paper Ltd to: Subscriptions, The Football League Paper, Tuition House, St George’s Rd, Wimbledon, SW19 4EU ■ 10 issues for £20 ■ 20 issues for £40 ■ 40 issues for £80 (Please tick) Name: Address: Telephone No: Email: Postcode: (including 1st class P&P) Please note rates are for UK subscriptions only – other country rates on application.
