British Artist Blacksmith Association Launch Complete Digital Archive for Members and Libraries
Members of the British Artist Blacksmiths Association (BABA) can now access a complete digital archive of the organisation’s magazine, Artist Blacksmith, through its website. Delivered in partnership with publishing services platform Exact Editions, the archive is fully-searchable, stretches back to 1979 and will grow with each new issue published. Multi-user site licences, authenticated by IP address, are also available to libraries worldwide.
Over its history, Artist Blacksmith has developed from a simple black and white publication into a full-colour, 52-page, glossy magazine about creative blacksmithing. Featuring articles, event information, photo galleries and debates, the magazine is printed using vegetable-based inks and no alcohol, as part of the editorial 'green' policy. Each issue features a contribution from a guest editor, and this keeps the content fresh and the viewpoints varied.
Access to the digital edition for members is facilitated through Exact Editions’ pioneering ‘White Labelling Service’, which allows publishers to directly manage and control both the e-commerce and access to their digital edition. Members can use the advanced search function to find keywords, topics or artists amongst the treasure trove of content spanning over 40 years.

Owen Phillips, Website Administrator of BABA, commented: “The new digital edition looks fantastic on the Exact Editions platform and will serve as a valuable resource to members. We’re also excited to expand our subscription base into library markets in order to reach more readers who want to find out more about the history of creative blacksmithing and the organisation as a whole.”
Managing Director of Exact Editions, Daryl Rayner, remarked: “Publishers are increasingly looking for ways to diversify their membership offering, and the addition of a streamlined digital edition to organisations’ websites is certainly a benefit to members. We’re delighted to be working with BABA both on this new phase of their website, and to increase their presence in libraries.”
