Contemporary Illustration Magazine 3x3 Launches Modern Digital Archive Available for Subscription
3x3, the only publication in the world devoted to contemporary illustration, has digitised its modern archive of print issues in collaboration with publisher services company, Exact Editions. Both individuals and institutions can now subscribe for fully-searchable access to the growing archive, with new issues being published three times a year.
Based in New-York, the mission of 3x3 is to preserve, protect, and promote illustration in all its forms. Since the first issue in 2003, the publication has covered the comings and goings of illustrators across the globe. Each issue features in-depth articles of working illustrators, industry news, career advice, profiles of living icons and esteemed legends, book reviews and nearly one-hundred images, giving the reader a good taste of what’s going on today.
The Exact Editions advanced search function allows readers to search for keywords across the whole archive, year, or individual issue. Issues in the 3x3 digital archive are an exact replica of the print counterparts, thereby retaining the appearance of the showcased artwork.
3x3 is available in the Exact Editions shops here:
Publisher & Design Director of 3x3, Charles Hively, commented: “It’s important to preserve today’s illustration to enable future generations to understand what was happening at this time in history. We’re impressed with how the Exact Editions’ search function allows readers to easily search for a particular artist of interest.”
Managing Director of Exact Editions, Daryl Rayner, said: “Visual publications such as 3x3 benefit from the digital archive exactly mirroring the print. It will be an excellent resource for illustration enthusiasts, students and institutions alike.”
